The Jar System for us Mum’s on a tight Budget

Being on a tight budget allows me some financial and stress freedom. I know for some people the words BUDGET and FREEDOM don’t normally come hand in hand but for me they do.

I am someone that try’s to be smart with money. I like to know where every cent goes and make sure I’ve budgeted every living cost in. For me it’s important that I have money set aside for Birthdays for my children, Christmas, General clothing that we might need etc. So I put in place a jar system to help me with that.

MY 5 JARS

  1. BIRTHDAYS
  2. GENERAL (Clothing, outings etc)
  3. SAVINGS
  4. EMERGENCY (for anything you might not of remembered to budget in)
  5. Christmas (My latest addition to my Jar System)

Once I’ve budgeted in every other important cost, I then use any amount left over to go towards these jars. Even if it’s a small amount, it still adds up over time. Having this system in place has saved me on a number of occasions. When the kids need new togs, or its school holidays and they want to see a movie, I then dip into these jars to cover the costs. This gives me freedom in knowing that all costs are covered and I’m not going over budget. I only work with the money amount that enters my bank account. I don’t own credit cards and I’m not in any debt.

So if you think this is a great idea, try putting it into place in your home. It might relieve some financial stress.

Happy Budgeting Beautiful Mums…
