NIGHT TIME ROUTINE FOR THE KIDS
I am such a believer in routine for kids. Having a routine put in place for your kids helps them and will help you out a lot also.
My nights are generally easy flowing and happy feels thanks to an easy routine that my kids are used to. And since the routine is put into play every night at our place, the kids are used to it , don’t complain and know what to expect and when to expect it.
Showers – Dinner – Quiet Play – Brush Teeth – 7pm Read a book in Bed – 7:15pm Lights out – Prayers – Kiss and cuddle goodnight – 7:30 they are dosing off to sleep, if not already asleep.
I juggle this routine between my 4 children. I go into my 4yr olds room first, while I’m chatting, saying prayers and kissing her goodnight, my older two children get a bit longer reading their books. Then I go to my 7yr olds room and do the same routine with him, which gives my eldest daughter a bit longer to read until I go into her last. And a lot of the time my 4 month old is dosing off to sleep in my arms while I’m doing this routine with the other 3 kids. This is something that smoothly works for us and keeps my kids happy and getting plenty of sleep.
ME TIME
Another reason that I’m so thankful for an easy routine is that this allows me to have “ME TIME”. After the kids are settled, it gives me time to do a bit of a tidy after the day, time to wind down, and time to study or read my book, and spend time with my partner and enjoy each others company.
If I didn’t have a routine in place, the kids bed times would be all over the place which would cause lack of sleep and I wouldn’t have any time to spend on things that I need and love to do and I’d most likely get burnt out quickly. It’s important that us Mums get time to breathe and wind down so we can function at our best the next day.
So do yourself a favour and find a routine that works for you and your family if you don’t have one already, its definitely worth it. For you and your children. Let nights become easier and more enjoyable.
And then enjoy either a nice glass of Wine or a cup of Tea once the kids are in bed because we all know us Mums deserve that…
