Being grateful for the Mess is something that my mother taught me in my first year of being a Mum. This was not an excuse for me to keep a messy house, nor an excuse for me to be lazy but its a way of changing your mind set and helping lower stress levels in the midst of a hectic day of a stay at home mum.
Eg. The mess is still in the kitchen from making baby food. The toys are spread out all over the floor. You have washing coming out of your ears and so on… In these moments as a stay at home mum its very easy to become overwhelmed with everything we need to catch up on. We are already tired from being up all night with the baby. Every time we leave the room to fold the washing, the baby starts to cry. You can’t have 5 minutes to go to the bathroom by yourself let alone remember if you ate breakfast that morning or not. And if you have more then one child (like I do) you can times all that and other things by the amount of children you have. Some moments are huge and life can feel constant.
But here’s the key…
BE GRATEFUL FOR THE MESS. If those toys weren’t spread all over the floor it would mean you didn’t have that beautiful Child of yours. If those baby food dishes weren’t in that kitchen, it would mean you didn’t have a precious baby to feed. If you didn’t have a pile of washing the size of Everest, it would mean you didn’t have an incredible family to dress. YOU ARE BLESSED in this over whelming situation. You have the opportunity to push the stress of the household behind you & focus on your blessings. All the house work will get done, I promise you. Yes it just comes back around again but that’s even more of a reason to enjoy these moments & days with our babies/children. They are our world & we should make sure we spend every day proving that to them.
You amazing Mum are owning this Motherhood thing. You’ve got this… So enjoy every second of it & be grateful for the mess.
